If you purchase your book on your own, save your receipt and you can simply use your Opportunity Grant check to reimburse yourself.Celva Boonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08379981044061027625noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2091461871359401559.post-65615645559896455272011-03-01T11:08:00.000-08:002011-03-01T11:12:49.522-08:00Opportunity Grant reportIf you are interested in reading the recent progress report published by the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges, click on this link.
http://www.sbctc.ctc.edu/college/education/resh_rpt_11_2_opportunity_grant_program.pdfCelva Boonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08379981044061027625noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2091461871359401559.post-58116124640727396452011-03-01T11:06:00.001-08:002011-03-01T11:08:25.210-08:00FAFSA 2011-2012As soon as you file your taxes for 2010, you should go ahead and file your new FAFSA. For example we may only be able to help with a small book award instead of books and tuition or perhaps only be able to fund 5 credits of tuition and no books.

What can you do?
Pay attention to announcements from the Governor and Legislature. Write letters to your local representatives and share how the Opportunity Grant has impacted your educational experience.

These are hard times but one thing is for sure, we will get thru it.Celva Boonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08379981044061027625noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2091461871359401559.post-65450009202246787812010-09-09T09:14:00.000-07:002010-09-09T09:16:28.479-07:00Applications are CLOSEDThe Opportunity Grant is currently closed for new Fall applications. Grants will be awarded based on availability of funds. For example a 5 cr. Biology class in 2009- 2010 cost $387.15 , it will cost $416.80 this coming school year. This raise in tuition will mean the Opportunity Grant will most likely help less students as it will not cost more per student.

-Additional fees (Clinical fee, admission fee, ect.)

-Basic Food Employment Training program (BFET) may cease on the RTC campus or be greatly reduced.

Please be mindful that these changes were only implemented after many meetings/ discussions and countless hours of analyzation.Celva Boonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08379981044061027625noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2091461871359401559.post-49838535814372341352010-04-29T13:52:00.000-07:002010-04-29T14:02:37.058-07:00Summer 2010- Bring on the SunI dont know about you but im ready for some sun!!!

Returning students:Returning students can start registering May 7. If you go to a .com site, you will probably be asked to pay to submit the FAFSA. Remember, the first F in "FAFSA" stands for "free" – so use the official government site to submit your application.

* Apply for a pin at least 3 days before you intend to file your FAFSA. Otherwise you will need to print a signature page and mail it in, which ends up taking longer.

*If you were born after 1987 , you will need to provide parental information.

*The 2010-2011 FAFSA will be used to determine your eligiblity for aid Summer 2010 quarter.

If you would like assistance in completing your FAFSA, please give me a call.Celva Boonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08379981044061027625noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2091461871359401559.post-90577129407520912022010-01-15T15:18:00.000-08:002010-01-15T15:25:23.252-08:00Welcome to the blogHello out there...
This blog is intended to serve as a resource to anyone who wants information about the Opportunity Grant at Renton Technical College.
